Government moves to buy Cayman Brac lighthouse property

The Cayman Islands government has entered into a contract to purchase a 125-acre parcel of land, which includes the highest point in the country, at the eastern end of Cayman Brac.

Minister Johany ‘Jay’ Ebanks confirmed the contract has been signed to secure the parcel, which surrounds the Cayman Brac lighthouse and includes a significant stretch of the Cayman Brac bluff that overlooks the Caribbean Sea.

The property had been listed by the International Realty Group (IRG) on the Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association website, with the agency describing the property as “an unparalleled opportunity in the Cayman Islands, one that hasn’t been available for over two decades and has no equal”.
