50 years ago: Lighting the kiln; beef issue debated in LA
A front-page photo in the 27 Nov. 1975 edition of The Caymanian Compass showed then governor Thomas Russell lighting the kiln after the opening ceremonies for the Cayman Festival of the Arts. Linberg Eden, who built the lime kiln, stepped behind the governor at an inopportune moment so he could not be seen in the photo. For a more complete summary of the story, please see the below link:
